The village of Aldbrough is situated in the vale of Holderness, on the east coast of Yorkshire, approximately 7 miles south of Hornsea, and approximately 12 miles north of the city and port of Hull (City of Culture 2017) and is a popular holiday retreat..
The village has a peaceful rural atmosphere, surrounded by open fields, the Parish of Aldbrough covers an area some 5,500 acres, predominantly agricultural land. The present day village is expanding and thriving, with a population of about 1,200 (source 1991). The heart of the village lies one mile from the sea, with sheltered beaches, though access can be limited due to continued coastal erosion. Views form the cliff tops on a clear day stretch as far as Flamborough lighthouse to the north and Withernsea to the south.
